The South African Association for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (SAAM) serves the mechanics community in South Africa (SA) and promotes activities concerning theoretical, experimental and computational mechanics in SA in order to enhance the development of expertise in mechanics in this country.<\/p>\n
SAAM represents the interests of the mechanics community of South Africa being recognised nationally and internationally as an adhering organisation of the International Union for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM) and the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM).<\/p>\n
The association provides South African representation in the organisation, planning and hosting of international IUTAM congresses and periodically coordinates and organises South African conferences on theoretical, experimental and computational mechanics (SACAM and AfriComp).<\/p>\n

SACAM provides a forum for presenting and discussing the latest developments in applied mechanics. We aim to bring together scientists, engineers and applied mathematicians from academia and industry to encourage scientific exchange of ideas and opportunities in applied mechanics.<\/p>\n
The conference provides a unique opportunity for postgraduate students to engage with the community, and postgraduate students’ participation is especially welcome.<\/p>\n
